But sometimes you just gotta go artsy-fartsy. 2033 feels very humble and basic and I love it for those merits. There is so much symbolism and subtext in Last Light. Last Light just feels bigger and "more important" to me, even tho that 2033 is technically more important in the real world context. Maybe it's an unfair comparison because when we finish Last Light we remember everything we went through up to this point and not only the events of Last Light. But I did not nearly feel as moved when the 2033 credits rolled. 2033 is very basic and tells a basic story and that is fine as well. You can buy them separately for PS4 I thought it was just called Metro Redux, which consists of Metro 2033 (first game) plus Metro Last Light plus dlc. It offered a chance for 4A Games to go back and fix a ton of things that have been bugging them. Check out this graphical comparison video between Metro Redux for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the last-gen versions of Metro 2033 and Last Light. But Last Light has that overall feeling of "Greatness" to it. The reworked version of Metro 2033 in Metro: Last Lights far superior engine makes perfect sense. The gameplay (of the Redux versions) is the exact same so I obviously can't judge that. For example, here we see a lot more in the way of dynamic light sources. It's an awesome and thrilling romp to play them within the span of 3 days (which I did).īut overall I gotta day that Last Light is better. Metro 2033 Original Metro 2033 Redux The Metro 2033 Redux often sees 4A deploying the strengths of the more modern engine. Noticing all the small similarities and some of the huge differences they have regarding the story. That's why it's so cool to play them back to back. The Redux version helps to even out differences between the games and knits them tightly together, which I really like. It's still a great and memorable game and established the game universe. As I said my memory of the overall story was a bit blurry so I expected many moments of Last Light to occur while I played 2033, only to notice: "Whoops, that was in the next game!" The giant bear, the Baby Dark One, some of the best moments with Khan and the list could go on and on. So when I finished with Last Light today I was surprised to see how many memorable moments and awesome levels are actually part of Last Light. My first back to back walkthrough has been over a year ago so the events of both games kinda blurred together when thinking about the story in retrospective. My first back to back walkthrough was on PC, this one on Ps4. Today I finished playing 2033 and Last Light back to back for the second time.

In addition, Theobald said adding crypto payments is a way merchants can attract buyers who typically make larger purchases.Īccording to a Forrester Research study commissioned by BitPay last year, crypto adopters have an average order value of $450, compared to $200 for non-crypto users. “Sometimes a concern with Bitcoin is with the volatility, but that's also why a merchant would want to partner with BitPay, because we manage the volatility - they have nothing to do with the volatility - if they charge $100, they're going to get $100 minus our 1% fee,” he said.įor Atlanta-based BitPay, which said it supports a dozen cryptocurrencies globally, its 1% fee is lower than those charged by major card networks, which can charge more than 2% per transaction. BitPay charges a flat fee of 1% of transactions for fiat conversions in the background and completes crypto payment transactions. Merrick Theobald, vice president of marketing at crypto payment processor BitPay, said the availability of crypto transactions drives up average order value and can help merchants tap into new customer bases. Crypto payments software from third-party firms allow for quick conversion of crypto payments to fiat currency, letting merchants make or receive payments without holding the digital assets. Payments firms and merchants that spoke with Payments Dive said the addition of crypto as a payments vehicle is a response to consumer demand, and an opportunity to grow basket sizes. "A Visa credential - whether physical or virtual" - is becoming the preferred mechanism for the increasing number of consumers who have crypto when they want to actually access that value in spending,” said Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at Visa. Visa, which said it partners with 50 crypto platforms on card programs, announced in July that more than $1 billion was spent on crypto-linked Visa cards in the first half of 2021. Marqeta’s technology enables crypto transactions to take place at speeds similar to those for fiat transactions. In addition, Mastercard this month tapped other partners to create crypto-linked credit, debit and prepaid cards in the Asia-Pacific region that can be used for converting crypto to fiat currency for spending.Īlso in October, payments software firm ACI Worldwide announced a tie-up with RocketFuel Blockchain to allow more than 50 cryptocurrencies to be accepted through one click at client e-commerce checkouts, with no fees. Mastercard’s partnership with Bakkt lets merchants and other partners accept crypto while Bakkt carries out custodial services. The tie-up also allows for the delivery of crypto rewards to consumers. Purchase, New York-based Mastercard launched a partnership with digital asset exchange Bakkt to allow partner merchants, banks and fintech firms to accept payments in crypto. In recent months, major payments companies have broadened the ability for merchants to accept cryptocurrencies. “ we are able to provide an experience that’s much more seamless.” Growing acceptance “There was sort of a mismatch between the crypto world, which is a real-time world, and the traditional kind of bank transfer world,” said Randy Kern, chief technology officer at card issuing and processing firm Marqeta. With an increasing number of customers holding crypto assets, easy crypto payments are a natural next step, companies said. Two key factors underpin companies’ bets on crypto payments: a growing number of consumers holding crypto - unlike five years ago - and technology that’s made it easier than ever to transact with crypto. The persistent rise in crypto value - more than $2 trillion worldwide, or about equal to the value of greenbacks in circulation - makes it worth their while to encourage consumers to spend from their increasingly bulging digital wallets. As a result, businesses are increasingly adding cryptocurrencies as payment options and making a bet that consumer uptake will grow. But over the past year, a growing number of mainstream payment providers and card networks are making it easier for retailers to accept crypto. Well anyway, I’m not picky about particulars. It is something that every patient should be talked to about. “The vast majority of families have never heard about this as a possibility, which is unconscionable. “A great deficiency in American health care at this time is that doctors don’t warn patients about this,” Dr. It is not known whether setting off a loud alarm in the bedroom could help rouse a person who has had a seizure. But that precaution would not help people who live alone. Monitoring devices to detect seizures during the night - worn on the arm like a watch, or placed under the mattress - can alert a relative or housemate of a problem. Sleep deprivation can bring on seizures, and so can alcohol, particularly in excess. “If you miss one single dose, you can die,” he said. One is to be extremely vigilant about taking medicines to control seizures. The risk of Sudep cannot be eliminated, but there are some things that patients and their families can do to lower it, Dr. The philosophy seems to be, why share such terrifying news when they can’t do anything about it? Many doctors do not warn patients and their families about Sudep. Information about epilepsy and first aid for seizures is available from the Epilepsy Foundation. If someone else is present and can roll the person over, call out and try to rouse them, “that can be lifesaving,” Dr. “If that happens when a person is sleeping, and sometimes the seizure causes the person to end up face down, then it’s a perfect storm,” he said, adding that seizures can also impair the arousal reflex, which normally causes people to struggle for breath and move around if their air supply is blocked. A severe seizure can temporarily shut down the brain, including the centers that control respiration, Dr. The probable cause of death is that the person stops breathing. The more uncontrolled the seizures, the more severe, and the more they occur in sleep, the higher the risk.”Ībout 70 percent of cases occur during sleep, and the people are often found facedown in bed. “Even the first seizure could be the last one. “It can happen to anyone with epilepsy,” Dr. (CNN) - Actor Cameron Boyces cause of death was sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said. Supplies have been reduced, and prices are expected to rise on bread and other wheat-based staple foods.Īll these problems have contributed to varying degrees of lack of public confidence in the economies in the region. More than one-third of Egyptians’ diets are based on wheat, but 85% of Egypt’s wheat comes from Russia and Ukraine. The crisis in Ukraine threatens food supplies. There are other environmental concerns, such as pollution, agriculture land scarcity and poor public infrastructure, which hinder sustainable economic growth. Several countries across the region – including Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen – have less water than their populations need. In addition to internal conflict, the International Monetary Fund reports that several of the region’s countries – including Egypt, Iraq and Tunisia – are facing a slow economic recovery from the pandemic, inflation in the costs of basic commodities such as energy and food, and financial and debt obligations needed to stabilize the economy. The region faces other obstacles that make it even harder for governments to tackle youth unemployment. This causes them to experience what has been called “ prolonged adolescence,” in which they are unable to develop financial and social independence, such as moving out and getting married, until their 20s or even their 30s. During this time, they rely on financial support from their families. This means people will often just wait for a public sector job instead of taking available private sector jobs.Įven those young people who manage to get jobs say they often are searching for several years before landing work. In most countries, government jobs pay about 20% less than private industry, but in the Middle East, government jobs pay about 30% more on average. In Egypt, government work accounts for 70% of nonagricultural jobs. In Egypt, Tunisia and Syria, government jobs are almost one-third of all employment. In many countries, the government is the one of the largest employers. Education and training programs don’t always line up with the jobs that are available. Other rules discriminate against young women seeking work. In many Middle Eastern nations, regulations and laws about hiring and firing workers discourage employers from creating new jobs when times are good, for fear they’ll have to keep those people employed when times get worse again. Local and international governments and organizations have tried for years to create more opportunities for young people, but with little success. This number is almost twice as many jobs as are currently in the U.S. The World Bank estimates that to provide employment for those currently out of a job and those who will soon be seeking work, Middle Eastern and North African nations need to create more than 300 million new jobs by 2050. Thirteen countries in the region have a youth unemployment rate of at least 20%, with the rate above 50% in Libya, above 40% in Jordan and Palestine, and above 30% in Algeria and Tunisia. The region’s young workers – those from ages 15 to 24 – already struggle with the highest unemployment rates in the world, averaging 25%. Its people now number over 450 million, up from 300 million in 2001. In addition, the region’s population is growing at a much faster rate than the global average – and has been since the World Bank began keeping records in 1961. Since the pro-democracy protests and uprisings of the Arab Spring in 2010, the region has experienced some sort of significant conflict in eight of its 21 countries: Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen. Tomcat has 60% market share of Java Application servers. Henry Chen, a security researcher at Alibaba Cloud, published a tweet confirming that exploiting the vulnerability would allow someone to “read any webapps files or include a file to RCE.” Risk ImpactĪccording to a tweet by cyber threat intelligence firm Bad Packets, “mass scanning activity targeting this vulnerability has already begun”. This vulnerability was discovered by a security researcher of Chaitin Tech. The CVSS Base Score is 9.8 (Critical) 1.3 Affected VersionĪpache Tomcat 9.0.30 and prior, Apache Tomcat 8.5.50 and prior and Apache Tomcat 7.0.99 and prior. Watch the video to learn more about this and other important vulnerabilities. It is likely that users upgrading to 9.0.31, 8.5.51 or 7.0.100 or later will need to make small changes to their configurations. A few changes were made to the default AJP Connector configuration in 9.0.31 to harden the default configuration. Users wishing to take a defense-in-depth approach and block the vector that permits returning arbitrary files and execution as JSP may upgrade to Apache Tomcat 9.0.31, 8.5.51 or 7.0.100 or later. It is important to note that mitigation is only required if an AJP port is accessible to untrusted users. Further, if the web application allowed file upload and stored those files within the web application (or the attacker was able to control the content of the web application by some other means) then this, along with the ability to process a file as a JSP, made remote code execution possible. This vulnerability report identified a mechanism that allowed: - returning arbitrary files from anywhere in the web application - processing any file in the web application as a JSP. It was expected (and recommended in the security guide) that this Connector would be disabled if not required. In Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0.30, 8.5.0 to 8.5.50 and 7.0.0 to 7.0.99, Tomcat shipped with an AJP Connector enabled by default that listened on all configured IP addresses. If such connections are available to an attacker, they can be exploited in ways that may be surprising. Tomcat treats AJP connections as having higher trust than, for example, a similar HTTP connection. When using the Apache JServ Protocol (AJP), care must be taken when trusting incoming connections to Apache Tomcat. The Virsec Security Research Lab provides detailed analysis on recent and notable security vulnerabilities. Virsec Security Research Lab Vulnerability Analysis At one point, Hudson, whose entire career and way of life were made possible due to the Internet, talks about managing personal relationships and how he has become more closed off due to being online, sarcastically saying “Thanks for that, Internet.” The irony is painful.Įven more unnerving to witness is how monetarily driven the members of the Hype House are. They’re only focused on how horrible their lives have become due to social media, causing the group to come across as even more unrelatable and unlikeable. There is definitely something to be said for how social media can affect mental health and how the constant pressure of upholding an online persona can be tiring, but much of the cast fails to see or acknowledge the massive amounts of privilege they have because of their careers. With so few distinguishable names, the house that was formerly a star of TikTok now seems like nothing more than a group of somewhat good-looking white people laying around all day, occasionally doing a trending dance to post online, then complaining about how tired, bored or unmotivated they are. The laziness of many members is apparent, and it begs the question of how exactly the Hype House is entertaining and even relevant to begin with. Petrou is also constantly irritated by other members of the house not doing enough for the group’s success, despite being given an otherwise free place to live with all of their friends and very little responsibility. However, Hudson struggles to relay his true feelings about his involvement with the house to Petrou. In Hudson’s individual interviews it’s clear that he doesn’t care to be in the Hype House any longer, but given his significant amount of internet fame, the house would likely sink deeper into irrelevancy if he finally left. Petrou is frustrated that Hudson seems to have moved on from the Hype House while still reaping the financial benefits of being associated with the group because Hudson would rather focus on releasing music and making an album. The first major conflict is between Petrou and Hudson. The show primarily focuses on Petrou’s frustration with members of the house who he feels aren’t doing enough to support the group. Netflix’s recently released reality show, “Hype House,” takes a look at what day-to-day life is like for members of the content collective. According to Petrou, “(his) whole goal with this house in the first place was, why can’t people who hit millions of other people be as famous as A-list celebrities?” During late 2019 and early 2020, when the app was on its rise, the group was arguably one of the most well-known content houses across the whole platform. The house was founded by 23-year-old Thomas Petrou and 19-year-old Chase Hudson back in December 2019. Hype House currently boasts 10 or so members who create content together, including popular dances, lip syncs and replications of current trends. Many users of TikTok are probably familiar with the Hype House, a content house (really, a multimillion-dollar content mansion) that formerly held major TikTok stars like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae. For many of the most well-known TikTokers, it’s reality. To many people, recording and uploading a few 15-second clips and then instantly making thousands of dollars seems like a dream.
