![]() But sometimes you just gotta go artsy-fartsy. 2033 feels very humble and basic and I love it for those merits. There is so much symbolism and subtext in Last Light. Last Light just feels bigger and "more important" to me, even tho that 2033 is technically more important in the real world context. Maybe it's an unfair comparison because when we finish Last Light we remember everything we went through up to this point and not only the events of Last Light. But I did not nearly feel as moved when the 2033 credits rolled. 2033 is very basic and tells a basic story and that is fine as well. You can buy them separately for PS4 I thought it was just called Metro Redux, which consists of Metro 2033 (first game) plus Metro Last Light plus dlc. It offered a chance for 4A Games to go back and fix a ton of things that have been bugging them. Check out this graphical comparison video between Metro Redux for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the last-gen versions of Metro 2033 and Last Light. But Last Light has that overall feeling of "Greatness" to it. The reworked version of Metro 2033 in Metro: Last Lights far superior engine makes perfect sense. The gameplay (of the Redux versions) is the exact same so I obviously can't judge that. For example, here we see a lot more in the way of dynamic light sources. It's an awesome and thrilling romp to play them within the span of 3 days (which I did).īut overall I gotta day that Last Light is better. Metro 2033 Original Metro 2033 Redux The Metro 2033 Redux often sees 4A deploying the strengths of the more modern engine. Noticing all the small similarities and some of the huge differences they have regarding the story. That's why it's so cool to play them back to back. The Redux version helps to even out differences between the games and knits them tightly together, which I really like. It's still a great and memorable game and established the game universe. As I said my memory of the overall story was a bit blurry so I expected many moments of Last Light to occur while I played 2033, only to notice: "Whoops, that was in the next game!" The giant bear, the Baby Dark One, some of the best moments with Khan and the list could go on and on. So when I finished with Last Light today I was surprised to see how many memorable moments and awesome levels are actually part of Last Light. My first back to back walkthrough has been over a year ago so the events of both games kinda blurred together when thinking about the story in retrospective. My first back to back walkthrough was on PC, this one on Ps4. Today I finished playing 2033 and Last Light back to back for the second time.
